Beside the story about Facebook purchasing Instagram, the Times also wrote today about the 5.4 billion dollar budget cut in schools all across Texas, a state that is already spending way below the national average on students.  School districts across Texas are letting go of teachers left and right.  Most schools are going the generic path of cutting art and music programs, technology, and textbooks, but some schools are getting creative.  A district is forcing teachers to become part time janitors.  Others are cutting school bus routes for students up to 2 miles of the school.  Two miles takes 40 minutes to walk on foot according to Google map.  Keller ISD is charging up to $355 per student for bus rides to public schools.

The scary thing is that Rick Perry is getting praised for this by Republicans across the country, and he basically said school is receiving enough money, they just need to spend it properly.  Obviously our governor doesn’t believe teachers, text books, or transport to be proper.  Atleast we will always have football.
